절멸

도래할 ‘질병X의 시대’를 맞아 당장 필요한 변화와 행동은 무엇인가? 각각 하나의 동물로 변신한 30여 명의 작가, 예술가, 시인, 활동가들은 절멸을 맞는 〈동물들의 시국 선언문〉을 낭송하고 그 자리에서 쓰러진다.

Extinction

What change and action is most urgently required in this era of ‘Disease X’? About 30 artists, poets, and authors came together to each represent an animal by ‘being’ that animal for a moment. Each participant wore a mask of a chosen animal and read their respective ‘will towards mankind’, followed by collapsing on the spot, and thus ‘becoming extinct’. A collective 〈Animal’s Manifesto on the State of Affairs〉 was also selected and recited at the end of the performance.

‘이동시 총서’ 첫 번째 책 『절멸』. 시인, 소설가, 예술가, 학자, 활동가 등 35명의 저자가 참여해 ‘질병 X의 시대’를 맞아 절멸을 막기 위해 당장 필요한 변화와 행동을 촉구한다.

Book: Extinction

The first volume of the ‘Edongshi Book Series, 〈Extinction〉 is the collection of writings by more than 35 poets, novelists, artists, scholars and activists that demands immediate action and change to stop the imminent advent of extinction in this era of ‘Disease X’.

전시〈동물당 매니페스토〉

‘민심’에 해당하는 동물의 마음을 해독하는 「동물심 번역기」, 각 종에 맞는 정치 참여 형식의 필요를 질문하는 「동물들은 어떻게 투표하는가」, 「동물당 창당 대회」 등의 작품은 현실 정치에서 배제된 존재들의 정치성을 드러낸다.

Exhibition: Animals’ Party

Works such as ‘Animal mind translator’ deciphers what the ‘public opinion’ is among animals, while ‘How do animals vote’, and ‘Animals’ Party Rally’ questions how different species should participate differently in politics, and reveals the political inclinations of the discriminated, denied and discounted.
